martin luther king jr. emerges as the leader of the movement

Picture
It was clear that the Montgomery Bus Boycott would be an unprecedented act of protest and the formation of a movement that would fight for equality for African Americans.  This movement would need a leader.  It was not long before the local Civil Rights activists in Montgomery asked the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., to take the reigns.  His leadership over the coming years would lead to historic change.
